A fixed-price DevOps assessment that ends in a plan, not a slide deck

One week, read-only access, a fixed fee. You get a maturity score, a cost breakdown and the ten changes that matter most, in order.

Overview

A DevOps assessment answers three questions for a SaaS team: how safely does code reach production, how much of the cloud bill is waste, and what breaks first as you grow. We score your setup against a five-level DevOps maturity model built on the DORA metrics, the same framework our guide explains, but run on your real pipelines, accounts and alerts instead of a questionnaire.

The output is a written report and a 90-day plan. Each item has an owner, an effort estimate, the risk it removes and, where it applies, the monthly saving. Many teams use the plan with their own engineers. Others hand it to us as the scope for a monthly plan, and if you start one within 30 days the assessment fee is credited against the first month.

Who it is for

SaaS teams without DevOps

Five to fifty engineers, no dedicated platform person, and production that mostly works but nobody fully trusts.

Founders before a raise

Teams that want an outside view of infrastructure risk and cloud spend before investors or enterprise customers ask.

CTOs planning a hire

Leaders deciding between a DevOps hire and outside help, who want the work defined before choosing either.

What is included

The final scope is agreed in your proposal. These are the areas the service typically covers.

Maturity score

Delivery, infrastructure, observability, security and recovery each scored from level 1 to 5 with the evidence behind the score.

DORA metrics baseline

Deployment frequency, lead time, change failure rate and time to restore, measured from your repositories and incidents.

AWS cost breakdown

Spend split by service, environment and team, with idle, oversized and untagged resources ranked by monthly cost.

Security and access check

IAM, secrets, public exposure, logging and backups checked against the controls SOC 2 auditors and AWS guidance expect.

Prioritised 90-day plan

The changes that matter, in order, each with effort, risk removed and expected saving, ready to hand to an engineer.

Walkthrough call

A 60-minute session with your engineers to go through findings, answer questions and agree what to do first.

Pricing

Published prices in US dollars, excluding VAT where it applies. Every option is also on the pricing page.

DevOps & Cloud Assessment

$1,900fixed fee

A one-week review of how your code reaches production, how your cloud is built and what it costs.

  • CI/CD, infrastructure, monitoring, backups and access reviewed against a five-level maturity model
  • AWS bill broken down by service, environment and team, with the waste ranked
  • DORA metrics baseline: deploy frequency, lead time, change failure rate, restore time
  • A prioritised 90-day plan with effort, risk and estimated savings per item
  • A 60-minute walkthrough call with your engineers
Book an assessment

Covers one AWS organisation with up to five accounts. Read-only access. If you start a monthly plan within 30 days, the fee is credited against your first month.

Founding client terms. We are taking on our first five clients on founding terms: 30% off the assessment or the first three months of a plan. In return we write up the work as a case study with you, and if you are happy with the result, you tell others in your own words.

How it works

  1. Kick-off call

Thirty minutes on your product, architecture and worries. You grant read-only access to AWS and your repositories.

  2. Review the setup

We go through pipelines, infrastructure code, monitoring, IAM and billing data. No changes are made to your systems.

  3. Write the report

Scores, findings and the 90-day plan are written up in plain language, with links to the exact resources concerned.

  4. Walk through it

We present the findings to your team. You keep the report and can act on it with or without us.

  • A maturity score you can track each quarter, backed by evidence from your own systems

  • A clear list of what is costing money for no benefit, priced per month

  • The security gaps an auditor or enterprise customer would find, found first

  • A 90-day plan your team or ours can start on the next day

Questions about DevOps Assessment

What does a DevOps assessment include?

A DevOps assessment covers how code is built, tested and deployed, how infrastructure is defined, how problems are detected, who can access what, and what the cloud bill pays for. We score each area on a five-level maturity model, measure the four DORA metrics and price the waste we find. You receive a written report, a prioritised 90-day plan and a walkthrough call with your team.

How much does the DevOps assessment cost?

It is a fixed $1,900 for one AWS organisation with up to five accounts. There are no extra charges for the report or the walkthrough. If you sign up for a monthly plan within 30 days, the full fee is credited against your first month, so the assessment costs nothing if you go on to work with us.

What access do you need, and will you change anything?

We need read-only access: an IAM role with read and billing permissions, read access to your repositories and CI, and a viewer seat in your monitoring tool. We do not make changes during the assessment. Access can be removed the day the report is delivered, and we document exactly what we looked at.

How is this different from a DevOps maturity assessment questionnaire?

A questionnaire measures what people believe about their setup. We look at the setup itself: the pipeline definitions, the Terraform, the alert rules, the IAM policies and the bill. The maturity framework is the same five-level model from our guide, but every score is backed by evidence you can check, which makes the plan far more specific.

Which teams is the assessment a poor fit for?

It suits product companies on AWS with roughly five to fifty engineers. If you already have a platform team with mature tooling, a narrower review of one area is usually better value. If you have not launched yet and run a single server, a short call will tell you more than a full assessment, and we will say so.

What happens after the assessment?

You keep the report and the plan. Some teams implement it themselves. Others ask us to do the work on a monthly plan, where the 90-day plan becomes the agreed scope. If cost savings are the main finding, you can also choose our share-of-savings option, where we implement the changes and you pay only from verified savings.
